Hopefully by now there are no sufficiently old gamers who haven't yet played Chrono Trigger, the timeless JRPG classic from the crew at Squaresoft/Square Enix. Often lauded as one of the best JRPGs of all time, the game is considered a master class in 16-bit graphics and storytelling. And, for a limited time, Steam players can pick up Chrono Trigger with a hefty 50% discount, taking the price of entry down to just $7.49 until next Tuesday, August 28.
The Steam version of Chrono Trigger is meant to be a more modern offering of the game when compared to classic or Virtual Console releases: namely, it has a few modern features to keep it more in-line with current player expectations. The problem with that, of course, is that many believe Chrono Trigger was perfect how it was, and balk at the notion of it being changed: those are the types that won't be particularly thrilled with the new release.
With that said, the game has been given several updates in recent months and years, the fifth and final of which having released recently. Here's the list of changes made in the most recent update as detailed in a press release:
