Boyfriend Dungeon Kickstarter nearly doubles funding goal in two days
The new trailer also introduces new date-able weapons, including the first non-binary character.
When Boyfriend Dungeon was announced back in late 2017, the concept was captivating. Kitfox Games was teasing a dungeon crawler with a deep romance mechanic that involved the weapons themselves. It felt like a pretty charming package altogether and, now, Kitfox is testing the waters to see if others believe in this project as well via a Kickstarter. Well, the crowdfunding campaign wasn't live for two days before nearly doubling its $49,966 funding goal. At the time this article was written, $92,514 has been pledged.
The team also released a new trailer that introduces us to a handful of weapons that we'll be romancing throughout the game, including the first non-binary addition to the roster.
With romance being a focal point in Boyfriend Dungeon, a diverse collection of weapons is expected. The new trailer introduces a handful of attractive weapons you'll have to win over and Sawyer the Glaive is the first revealed non-binary character. The trailer includes a tease at the end for a feline weapon and the Kitfox team confirms that its name is Pocket and he turns into brass knuckles. He's not interested in romance, though, and it looks like close friendships will be developed in Boyfriend Dungeon as well.
The quickly-accruing funding has already secured three stretch goals for the game. Pocket was the first, secured with $50,000. Rowan Blair, a character designed by the creator of Hatoful Boyfriend, was unlocked at $95,000. At $96,000, the stretch goal forces the development team to die their hair. There are four more set between $130,000 and $191,000, but the unlocks aren't revealed at this time. Stay tuned to Shacknews for additional updates.
