It looks like major VR entities are playing nice. Today, HTC announced that the Viveport subscription service has added support for the Oculus Rift virtual reality HMD. Developers that use the Viveport platform can start opting in for Oculus Rift support today as well.
“By adding support for Oculus Rift, we’re doubling the potential user base for Viveport developers,” said Rikard Steiber, President of Viveport, in the official blog post. “Viveport continues to offer the most opportunities for developers to monetize their VR content. From Viveport and Viveport Subscription, to availability on Amazon and in Viveport Arcade, we’re going to continue to expand and reach the largest global audience possible on developers’ behalf.”
Viveport presents a lot of value with over 500 VR titles under a subscription plan. A crucial part of VR's growth is offering VR HMD owners a diverse sampling of experiences and Viveport is one of the best avenues for this. There's a 14-day free trial for Viveport for any Oculus or HTC Vive owners that want to give it a shot. Stay tuned to Shacknews for additional updates.
