This week’s Sea of Thieves update is small in size, but it offers some much needed fixes for players who are currently experiencing some commendation errors. According to the 1.2.2 Patch Notes, the Fleet Protector of the Ancient Isles commendation is now unlocking correctly, which should be good news for those pirates who were having issues with earning it.
We’re still in the midst of the Cursed Sails campaign, which means a new set of cursed cannonball-wielding pirate ships will be sailing the three main areas of the map. Be sure to check out the skeleton ship spawn times and locations guide to pinpoint where and when these ships will be showing up. Players who can only play during set times should now be able to complete all three regions for the commendations.
Though it wasn’t mentioned in the patch notes, Executive Producer Joe Neate mentions in the developer update video that the Cursed Sails campaign is being extended by one week. The decision for this was to allow players another chance at earning some of those more difficult, time-specific commendations. Speaking of Joe Neate, Asif, Chris, and I got to sit down and play some Sea of Thieves with Joe and talk all about the future of the game!
One interesting point is that the download sizes of Sea of Thieves has expanded to include both Xbox One and Xbox One X, which could mean we’ll see varying sizes of updates for the systems. As always, players on Windows 10 who are having trouble updating should check out our guide on how to update Sea of Thieves on PC.
