Nintendo held a Direct today and, typically, the company doesn't do a stream like this unless they have a major announcement. Today's is no different, as it was revealed that Castlevania has become one of the major franchises being represented in the Super Smash Bros. series. For Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Simon Belmont and Richter Belmont are joining the fight.
Simon is the main addition, bringing the classic whip to the Smash Bros. arena. It has possibly the longest reach for a melee weapon in the game and an assortment of other abilities make him a significant threat. Richter is an echo of Simon and a couple other echoes were revealed during the direct. A Castlevania map is, of course, also being added and it features the legendary Dracula. A large selection of music from the Castlevania series is also being added to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
You can find a full breakdown of all the other new additions, including a tease for a new mode, in our Super Smash Bros. Ultimate direct roundup. With new stages revealed, the total amount of stages is over 103. With variations to them, it is over 300. The total amount of music tracks comes to over 800, which equals more than 28 hours. Chrom and Dark Samus are also joining the fight as Echo Fighters. Stay tuned to Shacknews as more reveals from the Nintendo Direct are uncovered.
