Should You Buy the Battlefield V Deluxe or Standard Edition?
See the differences between the Battlefield V Deluxe and Standard Edition.
As the official start of E3 nears, fans at EA Play were treated to new gameplay and announcements for Battlefield V. Most notable was the reveal of Battlefield Royal, which should have surprised nobody given how many games are doing their take on the breakout genre. This will undoubtedly drive pre-orders of the game, which causes fans to weigh the benefits of the Battlefield V Standard Edition versus the Battlefield V Deluxe Edition. Below is a breakdown of each edition and what gamers get by ordering one or the other.
Battlefield V Standard Edition
- Battlefield V Base Game
- Battlefield V Open Beta

- Immediate Access to 5 Battlefield V Weapons
- Standard Edition Special Assignments
Battlefield V Deluxe Edition
- Battlefield V Standard Edition
- Battlefield V Base Game
- Battlefield V Open Beta
- Paratrooper Gear (1 Set)
- Immediate Access to 5 Battlefield V Weapons

Which Battlefield V Edition to Buy
Which edition to buy will depend on how badly you want extra stuff, and how early you want to play. The main selling points for the Battlefield V Deluxe Edition are being able to play three days early, and the 20 weekly Airlift items that feature items for customization. It isn’t spelled out, but that sounds like weekly cosmetics. There’s also the Special Assignments with the Deluxe Edition, but it’s not clear if those offer any in-game rewards related to progression, or if those assignments are also tied to cosmetics.
Hardcore Battlefield fans are likely going to want the Deluxe Edition for the early access alone. It’s torture to want to play a game and have to watch others for days, getting ahead and unlocking items while you’re grounded. However, if you just want to try Battlefield V because you think it looks cool, the Standard Edition offers plenty of its own perks, including access to the open beta.
Battlefield V will release on October 19, 2018 (October 16, 2018 - Deluxe Edition) on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC through Origin. Keep up to date on all E3 2018 announcements by visiting our video game release dates 2018 guide.
