Today during Apple's WWDC 2018 keynote, Tim Cook took the stage to present iOS 12, the newest version of the software found on all the flagship iOS mobile devices.

iOS 12 is focused on performance, with 40% faster app launches, 50% faster keyboard display, and a 70% faster camera opening speed. In addition, all devices that currently run iOS 11 will get iOS 12 as well.

There are tons of new features coming to iOS 12, ranging from new Do Not Disturb and Screen Time productivity additions, to new AR experiences that will totally change up the way you use and experience the platform. Overall, it's meant to help make even the smallest everyday tasks seem a bit more responsive and simpler.

One interesting new addition are the new Animoji and personalized Memoji characters, which you can design on your own. Much like creating your own Miis, you can make your own characters in your image to help communicate with others, and the coup de gras is the new tongue detection and winks to make your characters the most realistic they can possibly be.

iOS 12 looks like a robust addition the long-running family of iOS software that's been released over the years, and when we get our hands on it, we'll be able to test out just how responsive and game-changing it actually is, which should make for some fun experiments. Are you going to be testing out the beta when it arrives next month, and the full version this fall?
