Since VR entered the scene, many have wondered when their giant-mech-piloting fantasies would be fulfilled. Archangel's single-player campaign fulfilled that desire, somewhat. When I tested the game previously, the feel of the mech was spot on but the campaign ran on rails. Shooting and turning had the right weight to it, but I never got the chance to take full control. With the new Archangel Hellfire pvp update, I can do just that.
Archangel Hellfire thrusts VR pilots into 2v2 mech combat with off-rails movement and a collection of mechs with varying arsenals. The open beta for Hellfire starts today and includes three mech classes and two maps. There's also a co-op mode where teams take on waves of enemies. Shacknews is going live after the update is released so you can see VR mech combat for yourself in our Reality Bytes VR series. The Twitch stream will go live around 3:30 ET on our official channel.
After the stream, the video-on-demand will be added to the post, so don't worry if you miss out on the live show.
