Two New Steam Apps Coming to iOS and Android

Steam wants you to have an app for everything, at least in terms of its library of services. This week, it's introducing two new free apps: Steam Link and Steam Video, which will both be rolled out in the next few weeks.

Valve announced the two new apps, which are designed to "extend Steam's suite of services and accessibility" (read: give you more apps to keep track of), and they'll start releasing on May 21, with Steam Link the first of the two. It's meant to allow players to utilize their Steam library on their Android or iOS devices while connected to Wi-Fi or wired to their host system. At first, it'll be available in beta status, with release later on in full. It'll also feature support for MFI controllers, the Steam Controller, and various other input methods.

Then, the Steam Video app will make its debut later this summer. Users will be able to play movies and shows via Steam via their Android or iOS devices while connected to Wi-Fi or LTE connectivity, either via offline or streaming. If you're one of the five people who uses Steam for watching multimedia content, you should find this app pretty useful.
