Warhammer: Vermintide 2 has arrived, giving series fans and newcomers alike a fresh new experience practically overflowing with blood and action. And while those two elements alone make for a simple pitch, Vermintide 2 isn't a very simple game — outside of the need to destroy the enemy, smart players will want to make use of all the tips and tricks they can to maximize their potential. With that in mind, here are some useful tips to keep in mind as well as a peek at the few secrets we've seen in the game so far.

How to Skip the Prologue in Warhammer: Vermintide 2

One of the most frequently asked questions regarding Vermintide 2 is how players can skip the game's opening prologue. Loads of players jumped into the Vermintide 2 beta test, and since their progress carried over into the retail version of the game, many players were surprised to learn they had to trek back through the prologue.

As it turns out, the prologue can be skipped after all, but the method is not obvious. To skip the Vermintide 2 prologue, while the prologue is underway, simply press F2 twice, then press Escape. This will skip from the scene where the hero is being lifted in the cage straight to the main menu, where players can then jump straight into the hub world of Taal's Horn Keep.

Warhammer: Vermintide 2 Secrets

Secrets are abound in Warhammer: Vermintide 2, but they don't necessarily appear in the form that players might expect. Some secrets involve mysterious in-game items, while others crop up through underutilized gameplay mechanics. One of the lesser-understood functions in the game is Vermintide 2's option to equip Cosmetic items, the likes of which are so rarely encountered that some players believe they haven't yet been fully implemented. Players can nab a few of these items for free, but as for common cosmetic items are concerned, the drop rates and locations are still a mystery.

As for more traditional secrets, Warhammer: Vermintide 2 has both Tomes and Grimoires hidden throughout each level that players can collect in order to boost their end-mission loot. However, as all Tome locations are eventually revealed, so shall players uncover all of the hidden Grimoires, and their secretive nature will give way to focused players making "Grim runs" to gain as much loot and experience as possible.

Warhammer: Vermintide 2 Tricks, Combat Tips, Controls

One of the more frustrating parts of Warhammer: Vermintide 2's battle system is watching regular folk completely fail to put up a proper defense. It seems obvious to many, but others have yet to learn that anyone can block in Vermintide 2 by pressing and holding the right mouse button. This is particularly useful for reviving teammates, as too many players seem to fail in resurrecting their allies simply because they didn't know they could block while reviving. Players can also left click while blocking to push enemies away, a useful trick for players stuck in crowds of opponents.

Players who haven't yet combed through the menus would also do well to look back over Vermintide 2's control scheme. In particular, players will note that both R and the middle mouse button will reload their weapons, and Q can be used to quick cycle between primary and secondary weapons. Another useful ability is using T to Ping items — this highlights objects in the area that may be useful to other players. Aside from these, players can also use I to access the Inventory menu where they can open loot chests or equip new items without having to approach workbenches or dressers in the hub world.

The world of Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is still expanding, and as more players dive into the latest Fatshark release, so shall our knowledge base increase. To stay on top of the latest news, tips, and strategies, be sure to check out our Warhammer: Vermintide 2 home page.
