Learn how to get your hands on the most powerful weapon in Destiny 2: Curse of Osiris, Prometheus Lens.

Curse of Osiris is here and players are already beginning to formulate new favorite weapons and game metas for use in the Crucible, but the clear winner out of all of those competing are those gamers wielding the Prometheus Lens. If you’re yet to collect your own, here’s how to get Prometheus Lens in Destiny 2.

UPDATE: Xur is officially selling Prometheus Lens! Go and find him in the Winding Cove on the EDZ and get this highly coveted Trace Rifle. You have from December 8 until December 12, which is when Xur leaves, to purchase the gun.

How to Get Prometheus Lens

I was hoping the Prometheus Lens was going to be a reward from an epic quest or some hidden alternate-ending, but alas, in order to get Prometheus Lens in Destiny 2, you simply have to rely on luck. The only way to get this new Trace Rifle is through Exotic Engrams – or perhaps Xur if he’s feeling particularly generous.

Prometheus Lens offers two incredible perks which will allow you to wipe the floor with your enemies:

Prismatic Inferno – Fires a Solar trace beam and generates a damaging heat field that grows while the weapon continues to fire.

Flame Refraction – Kills with this weapon return a fraction of the ammo used to the magazine, extending the beam’s duration.

There will likely be those who are wondering why everyone wants to get their hands on a Prometheus Lens, well just take a look at some of these clips:

Yeah. I'd be just as horrified as that guy. Here's some more gameplay:

As you can see, not only does the laser do significant damage, but so does the growing sphere of Solar damage. What’s more, this sphere of Solar damage is useful in PvP when enemies are hiding around corners, as it allows you to deal damage to enemies behind cover.

Now, there are ways you can improve your chances of getting the Prometheus Lens in Destiny 2. Obviously a tried-and-true method of getting Exotics is through Public Events, but you should also be completing your Milestones, as these Luminous Engrams can sometimes reward you with Exotics.

Beyond Milestones, Cayde-6’s treasure chests can also drop Exotic Engrams and you are guaranteed to get an Exotic Engram from at least one of the Leviathan Raid Underbelly chests when you use a key. Hopefully you can get your hands on a Prometheus Lens before Bungie nerfs it into the ground.
