Playing as a counselor in Friday the 13th, your sole objective is to survive. There are various ways you can go about escaping the map and avoiding the murderous clutches of Jason. This article will dive into those different methods and equip you with the knowledge you need to be the best damn counselor out there.

The Police

The first way to survive the night is to call the police. Sadly, it isn’t as easy as just picking up a phone and dialing 911. There are several steps you must take to successfully call the cops and escape. These steps include:

Find the Phone Box.

Find the Phone Box Fuse.

Find Phone.

Repair the Phone Box.

Call the Police.

The Phone tends to be located in the same building as where the phone box is. The fuse will be located somewhere inside of a nearby house, you’ll have to do some poking around to find it. Take these items back to the phone booth and repair it.

It will take about five minutes for the police to show up after they’ve been called. Try your best to be as close to the main roads as possible. The cops will arrive on either sides of the road. Jason will be waiting at the road, blocking the path to safety if you fail to make your way there before the cops show up.

Fix a Boat or Car

Escaping in a vehicle may prove to be a slightly more tedious task than calling the Police. We already have a guide up on how to repair a car and escape in Friday the 13th: The Game, the steps listed there are pretty much the same steps that need to be taken to fix a boat. The main difference being that you need to find the boat propeller rather than car keys.

Call Tommy Jarvis

You can call in the iconic character Tommy Jarvis from the Friday the 13th film series to aid you and the other teenagers in evading Jason. At least one player must survive or have been killed for this option to open up. You must find and use the huge two-way radio to call in Tommy. One of the players who have died or escaped will be selected at random to play as Tommy.

Tommy has higher stats than the counselors and even spawns in with a shotgun. But let it be known that he is not invincible, nor is he a surefire way to kill Jason. Tommy works more as a distraction, shooting Jason with the shotgun usually won’t kill him, but it’ll stun him for a few seconds giving the other players a chance to make it to the cops, car, or boat.

Evading Jason

Jason has the upper hand when it comes to locating and taking you out. That being said, it’s in your best interest to stay away from him and bring as little attention to yourself as possible. Regardless of where you go, running is usually a bad decision. You’ll make a lot of noise and if Jason uses his sense ability, he’ll be alerted to your location.

If you decide to enter a house, lock the doors and make sure the windows are open. It’s still important that you crouch and move slowly. If you have to leave, exit through a window as running and opening doors is just begging for attention.

If all else fails, run. Just run for your life. Do whatever you need to make as much distance between yourself and Jason Voorhees. Check out our guide hub for more tutorials such as How to Play as Jason.
