Can anyone point to a great weightlifting/gym guide to a total noob? I've never done a routine before and want to sculpt my 6'2" frame a bit.
I joined a gym last week and could use guidance on where to start with a workout/weight regimen. The instructors here are fine, but it's hard to get solid info without booking personal time with them (which isn't financially sound atm).
Any guidance is appreciated!

11 tagsThis is great fun:
https://github.com/fogleman/primitive/tree/master/primitive
It's a library which will turn any image into a set of simple geometric primitives, There's a desk app (for mac) which you can run on your photos:
https://primitive.lol/
Scroll down to the "daisy" example, it's great!
People have been using it to make SVG placeholders for jpg images. You can make a few 100 bytes of SVG which will look quite a lot like the image you might eventually load:

Clever stuff. -
11 tagsI've been posting my list of Switch Accessories in comment threads for a few months now, but now that a lot of folks snagged one for the holidays I thought this might be a good time to make it its own post. So, for those to whom it is suddenly relevant, here's my latest list of useful Switch stuff:
MUST GET: Glass screen protector:
https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01N3ASPNV/
MUST GET EVENTUALLY: Extra storage. Dealer's choice, but here's a recommendation:
- 128gb SanDisk Ultra SDXC microSD card: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B010Q57S62/
Cases:
- Budget slim hard case: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B06XHK4YW5/
- Budget XL hard case: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01NAUKS62/
- Fancy slim carry pouch: https://www.sfbags.com/products/nintendo-switch-pouch
- Fancy XL carry case: https://www.sfbags.com/products/nintendo-switch-cityslicker-case
- Fancy XXL carry bag: https://www.sfbags.com/products/arcade-case-for-nintendo-switch
Gel guards that help if your hands cramp while playing portable. I also find they make it easier to use left joycon buttons as a dpad (comes in several colors, stick to the PDP brand):
https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01N10WJ09/
Switch Pro Controller (has an awesome dpad):
https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01NAWKYZ0/
Joycon grips for playing with a single joycon horizontally (not very portable, come in pairs):
https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01MT9RSST/
Minimal dock replacement (does not include power cord--also note that the Switch has vent slits along the top, bottom, and rear. PLACE THE SWITCH SCREEN DOWN!):
- Black: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B074MYLP9C/
- Silver: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B074QNPC6P/
Super-portable, flat-folding stand for using the charge port while standing in portable mode (e.g. for extended airplane play):

Don't want a minimalist 3D printed stand? Fiiiine:
https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01N9RTMWS
And a cheeky Switch cartridge case I like:

Finally, if you bought the grey joycon set and you're looking to add some color I recommend grabbing some alternate color joycon straps--check Amazon and/or PlayAsia. They look fantastic with the grey joycons. They also make the joycons much easier to find in a dark room. -
11 tagsI've been going down a deep Halo rabbit hole the past couple weeks and found something kind of cool that I haven't really seen mentioned here.
In the leadup to Halo 5 they released 2 seasons of a sort of radio drama involving an investigative journalist trying to uncover the truth about the Master Chief's origins. Voiced by Keegan-Michael Key of Key & Peele with guest stars Janina Gavankar and Cobie Smolders among others.
I just finished the first season and imo it's really good. Way better than it has any right to be that's for sure.
Here's a playlist with all the episodes separated

11 tagsThe Bronze Age Collapse - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KkMP328eU5Q
Fantastic video. The collapse of bronze age civilizations is one of those incredibly important bits of human history that virtually no one out of academia even knows about. I don't understand why they don't teach this stuff in school, it's interesting and seems kind of important. -
