Everyone hug their furry friend today, MonkeyWench and I had to make the hardest decision of our lives to date and had to say goodbye to the most beautiful and sweet animal I've ever known. Love you Luna. You are already missed.

25 awwsI had to put my cat Leona down this past Thursday. She was 17.
I'd had her over half my life. When I got her, she was a few months old, but she's been with me my entire drinking career, from start to finish, and my near-decade of sobriety. She was my baby girl, my little lady, names that did not fit her in the slightest because, to be honest, she was a mean cat, but she was my mean cat.I used to say that she was the mean one so I didn't have to be. You know how pets sometimes resemble their owners? Well we had that, but on an emotional and digestive level. As my stomach stuff started getting worse, so did hers. Her skin got dry, I got eczema. She was anxious about everything, so am I.
And now she's gone, and I'm still here, but it feels like a whole part of me's missing, and I just keep hearing her meows on the wind.
True to form, she was rude till the end, hissing and batting at the vets as they sedated her, as I cried, because she knew what was coming. I thanked her for holding me up. For being there. I stroked her head, the only place she liked to be pet or scratched, as she took her last breaths.
I haven't quite accepted the fact that she's gone. Haven't cleaned out her room, thrown out her litter, any of it. I've been putting it off, but this is the first step in that direction. Farewell, bitty kitty.

24 awwsMy dudes. Divorce...
2023 was an avalanche of bad news of us--her (shithead) father died on New Year's Day 2023, and it just got harder from there, all year long. So many funerals, so many tragedies on both our sides... Guess it was too much for *us*. At least it looks to be amicable, and we've no kids (I'm really gonna miss Gracie, our corgi...), and it sounds like we both want an equitable and just separation of stuff...
But this sucks. A lot. -
24 awwsA mom who came by my booth on Sunday at the art fair secretly bought a print of one of my Mario drawings for her son's birthday, because he liked it so much but she wanted to surprise him. This morning she sent me an email thanking me for keeping it on the down low and that I inspired her kids so much, that when they got home they made their own paintings and had a little art sale in their neighborhood and she sent me this photo.
