Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 Reignites Capcom DRM Controversy
Capcom ran into a similar controversy last year with the launch of Final Fight: Double Impact, which had the same connectivity requirement in the PS3 version.
At the time, a user on IGN shared a purported response from Capcom, saying the move was to combat "rampant" game sharing on the PlayStation Network. The representative said putting the requirement in Final Fight was a way to "evaluate impact."
Since it's built to deal with a PSN issue, the Xbox Live Arcade versions of Final Fight and Rearmed 2 don't require a live connection. The game seems to only check for a connection at start-up, so a disconnect while playing shouldn't end the game prematurely.
