Silent Hill 8 Officially Named 'Silent Hill: Downpour'

Currently in development at Vatra Games in the Czech Republic, Silent Hill: Downpour was originally announced during E3 2010 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. While more details on the title will be hidden deep within the pages of Game Informer's February issue, the announcement trailer gives some indication of the goings on in the haunted, hillside town.
An escaped convict seeks refuge from his captors in the manacing town of Silent Hill. Clearly, he didn't read the town's "Welcome" sign closely, which explicitly states matter-of-factly: "Dude, turn the hell around and run."

'They still make money', while true, is not a valid reason. I'm not arguing against them on a business basis. Artistically the series has been dead since 4.
New Final Fantasy games have more merit than new Silent Hill ones. Each FF game exists in its own continuity - they're only connected by the gameplay ideas, the company that develops them, and a bunch of character and creature names that propagate between games. Whereas the recent Silent Hill games are mining an idea - one which has already been exploited - without bringing anything of value to the table.
