Today's Update For ESPN on Xbox Live Features 'College Bowl Showdown' Competition
In a nutshell, the competition sounds like a mini-version of fantasy football that focuses entirely on the thirty-two upcoming college bowl games, including all five games from the Bowl Championship Series (BCS). Gold members will be able to stream the games from ESPN3.com to their 360's for free, where ESPN3 is available.
And then, there's the competition part:
Xbox LIVE Gold members will be able to predict who will win each game, earn a score for their predictions and compete against friends to determine a winner. Throughout the bowl season, members will also have the chance to win prizes like a trip to the 2011 ESPY awards, ESPN headquarters and more.
Today's update also adds a "play all" feature that will allow users to watch all of the ESPN.com video clips and highlights in "one seamless video," and also "watch a continuous reel of highlights based on the sports and leagues they select via 'My Sports.'"
Curious college football fans who are also Xbox Live Gold members should probably give it a look.

replyI was pretty excited about ESPN on the XBOX. Then I relized all the games I cared about were blacked out and all the sudden it seems worthless now.

blackouts are due to regional coverage on tv of the game you were interested in. If you lived in Michigan and wanted to watch Michigan/Penn State on ESPN3 it will black it out so you'd have to watch on your local ABC Affiliate. The sucky part is when your IP is showing you're in a different area than you actually are so it assumes you are in "X" Location and you might actually be in a different DMA that is outside the black-out area.

What's worse is when you're watching the postgame show for a 31-3 blowout and there's a game in OT that they can't show because of NFL broadcast restrictions.
