Fallout: New Vegas Patch Coming to PC, Consoles; Will Be 'Comprehensive'

19
Bethesda has announced a new patch has been completed and submitted for Obsidian's Fallout: New Vegas, via the game's Facebook page.

"We've wrapped up work on the Fallout: New Vegas patch and submitted it," the Facebook message reads. "Will let you know when it's up on PS3, 360, and Steam."

Although neither Bethesda nor Obsidian have revealed exactly what issues the patch will tackle, Bethesda called the update "comprehensive" when it was first revealed to be in the works in early November.

Previous updates for the post-apocalyptic, pseudo spin-off have attempted to correct a number of issues, including a terror-inducing start to the entire adventure. If you've yet to venture out to Sin City's Wasteland, make sure to check out my review, which outlines how some of the game's technical issues hurt the overall experience.

Hopefully the upcoming patch will make a strong case for me to revisit the Mojave. For those looking to extend the experience, the Xbox 360 version of New Vegas will receive "exclusive" downloadable content on December 21.

I believe this marks the first time I've "waited for the patch" for a console game. Luckily most studios seem to be pretty good at keeping shipped bugs well below Bethesda levels, so I don't think it's the beginning of any sort of trend.

I pity you, truly, having to move so slowly, the menus so cumbersome, and the 3rd-person view so useless.

      Viva la PC.

I pity you for being an arrogant asshole. Viva la people who don't have time for PC bullshit anymore

I pity you all for not seeing the strengths of all platforms!

Care to fill me in on that "bullshit" part because I'm a bit at loss. What do you mean?

No need to pity. I was under the impression that the PC version was about as buggy as the console version, and that all the problems you mention existed on both platforms. Are you saying that's not the case?

I would say that the console versions have the added bonus of not having to worry about crashing to desktop ;)

But I will never play a game on console that is available for PC.

In addition to everything moddable I mentioned, I could troubleshoot anything else myself. That means zero problems since day 1.

Default run speed is way too slow, the menus are a nightmare with even more misc items now then FO3, and 3rd person without zooming out is frivolous. I pity you cus these are very necessary and somehow they refuse to do them officially.

I guess "zero problems" is more "zero problems that I can't fix myself". Which is actually a lot of problems, as you've listed. I prefer to spend my gaming time gaming, not fixing other people's mistakes.

say what? you seriously don't know nothing do ya?

zero problems as in near zero glitches. the bone-headed designs in the game like slow ass movement, menus with excessive scrolling, third-person camera... Things which they'll never patch out for you, I can just mod them out.

i had to mod the original run speed because i just couldnt be bothered to 'walk' everywhere, putting it up by a point made it slightly more enjoyable for me :D.
