More StarCraft 2 Bans Handed Out for Hacking
Typically, Blizzard (and other game developers) will hold off on banning users for cheats, hacks, and exploits until a critical mass of electronic ne're-do-wells are caught. By banning in waves, companies attempt to catch as many people as possible before revealing their hand.
We recently issued a new round of account suspensions and bans to StarCraft II players who were in violation of the Battle.net Terms of Use for cheating and/or using hack programs while playing. In addition to undermining the spirit of fair competition that's essential to play on Battle.net, cheating and hacking can lead to stability and performance issues with the service. As always, maintaining a stable, safe, and secure online-gaming experience for legitimate players is a top priority for us, and we'll be continuing to keep watch on Battle.net and take action as needed.
After a previous round of banning, Blizzard explained its position regarding players that were using trainers and other external programs, which some felt didn't warrant bans.
Admittedly, I haven't been playing any StarCraft II online recently so I'm not sure what hacks were being used, but please let us know in the comments if you've seen any foul play recently. Or, you know, if you were banned.
