Angry Birds Coming to PSN, XBLA, and Wii; Multiplayer a Top Priority

7
Rovio's Angry Birds, which is quite popular, will be coming to the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii, the company revealed at the first Social Gaming Summit in London.

Attendees tweeted out details (compiled by PocketGamer) on the future of Angry Birds, which remains with developer Rovio despite Electronic Arts buying the game's original publisher Chillingo.

It is unclear if the PlayStation version discussed is the PlayStation Mini version, which was announced back in August, and could still potentially be published by Chillingo.

Additionally, multiplayer is said to be a top-priority for Rovio and while the gameplay hasn't been nailed down, it could be reminiscent of old school Worms games. Aspirationally, Rovio hopes that Angry Birds becomes bigger than Tetris and is planning on expanding the universe to movies, television, toys, and more.

A direct-sequel is not planned, but Rovio will definitely make more games within the franchise. The story of the pigs, for example, has not been told yet.

I don't see the appeal to the game at all.

I looked all over for it in the android market when it was 'released'. In reality, it was only released on a few phones, one of which was not mine. I checked the market and what do I see? Angry Birds.

I excitedly download and install it. I run it and...it's a fucking sling-shot game. Are you kidding me? I trudged through the nearly unbearable lag and dull gameplay. I got to oh, level 4? I understand why it might be a puzzle game, but fuck, are you kidding me? Launch a red 'bird' at a target, keep trying until you get it. The end, uninstalled and one starred.

you must have a 1.5 or 1.6 device for it to lag.

also, the fact you couldnt have played it for more than 2 minutes (because the first 4 levels take about 30seconds each) you didn't really play it enough to have an opinion.

The game gets deeper as you go with tricky levels and more birds with different abilities.

I have an HTC Hero, slow, trashy, piece of shit. If it ever gets optimized enough where I can actually play it, I suppose I'll give it another shot.

Dude, you get tons of birds as the time goes on...you get MIRVS, slingshot type birds...birds that speed up like a rocket hitting stage 2 when you tap the screen, birds that drop freaking egg bombs, big, cannon ball-like birds, sling shot birds, and big, fat red birds.

      You're missing out!

I said "slingshot birds" twice because it's so awesome.

You reviewed the game (one star) after only playing it for a couple minutes and not even discovering that there are different birds with different abilities. lol.

Yeah, whilst not bad it's vastly overrated IMO. And just a clone of some older flash game I've played anyway, which is fairly distasteful. It does run fine though, sounds like your phone might be a bit slow. They've released a more optimised version recently.

I'm on Android, so I can't speak about the iPhone, but the mobile world really does seem to be clogged with shit games. Many of them being near 1:1 copies of others.

Yeah I don't get it either. It's just the same as any old physics slingshot puzzler; 10% strategy and 90% luck of the draw.

I did end up finishing it, but mostly out of boredom.
