Xbox Live Indie Games Returned to Previous Spot in Marketplace
The update had moved XBLIG from its previous spot in the Games & Demos tab of the Games Marketplace into the Speciality Shops section, alongside the Avatar Marketplace, Rock Band Music Store and other things people don't look at when they want games.
Naturally, this was criticised by many developers. Microsoft claimed that the move was actually a positive change for indies, telling Eurogamer the following:
The intent of the Specialty Shops section was to provide access to marketplaces that focus on a specific type of content, with unique ways of sorting through that content. We wanted to give Xbox Live Indie Games that full marketplace experience and felt this was the best place to do it, alongside other popular channels like the Avatar Marketplace. In fact, since the launch of Avatars, Xbox Live members have made more than 290 million customizations to their Avatar's clothing, so we expect many people to regularly visit the Specialty Shops section.
The XBLIG store is now once again on the Games and Demos section.

That's great news. Indie devs need all the exposure they can get. Now if they could just fix the QuickLaunch option....

Was anyone else as pissed off as I was about the majority of the changes they made? Most of it seems like superfluous crap that didn't really need to be changed in the first place. They changed the colors and sounds of the dashboard, made the boxes so large they cover whatever you could still see of your background, added commercials to videos, and changed around the layout of some things. I didn't really feel like this "update" added anything to the xbox experience short of making it look cleaner and squeezing some product placement in there for good measure.
