Gran Turismo 5 Delayed Again but Still Promised for "This Holiday Season"

Stop me if you've heard this before; Gran Tursimo 5, Sony's flagship racing simulation and car culture cornucopia has been delayed, again. The news is not as bad as prior delays, though. Gran Turismo 5 will miss its planned November 2 release, but according to an official statement will still be out this holiday season.

In a post on Sony's PlayStation Blog, the game's producer, Taku Imasaki writes:

We can confirm that Gran Turismo 5 will not be available this November 2nd, but the game's release will be coming this holiday season.
We sincerely apologize to GT fans for the delay, however, creator Kazunori Yamauchi and the team at Polyphony Digital want to make certain they are creating the perfect racing experience, and we are confident that this ambitious game will exceed expectations when it launches.

Polyphony Digital promises more information will be released in the near future.

I can already hear Garnett yelling "I TOLD YOU SO" on the next weekend confirmed.

Have to agree though, just release the dang thing.

  I dunno, Garnett seemed reluctant to even address it last time. The release date has become a long-running joke it's barely even worth commenting on everytime there's a bump in the road.

  Yeah, I don't really have much to say here. Bashing the game itself would be silly. I've seen the nearly nearly finished version plenty and it looks pretty fantastic. At this point, there's so much expectation focused on the game that if they feel a little extra time will help they should take it, because it better be perfect when it drops.

    Isn't this the point where you just say "Ship it, we will deal with the rest in patches". Those who play offline would either not notice whatever they are trying to fix, or find someone with an internet connection to download the patch.

      In the article, the producer said, "They are creating the perfect racing experience." Not "It'll be perfect after patch 1.01."
      
      And really, whether the release date is Nov 2 or Dec 20 is inconsequential, as far as business is concerned. As long as GT5 hits before Christmas, Sony has a guaranteed money maker this season.

        But the perfect racing experience is subjective. My perfect racing experience does not include Nascar or cart racing. Do you honestly believe they have to tweak the core gameplay mechanic? Or did they add something in at the last minute that is not working quite right that a majority of us could not care less for?

        I believe it's the latter. But what matters is that they're aspiring to "the perfect racing experience," in their own standard, not the majority of ours.
        
        Just a side note, I don't have a stake in this title at all. Not a PS3 owner nor a racing fan. I do, however, find its development history fascinating.
