Hendrix Pushes Rock Band Song Catalog Over 2000 Tracks Next Week
"Are You Experienced?" is reportedly the specific Hendrix track that will take the honors as the 2000th song. Which other accompanying tracks from the album will be included were not specified. The release describes the special Rock Band edition album download as "a mixture of live and studio tracks from the debut album from The Jimi Hendrix Experience."
A cursory glance at the Rock Band song catalog shows that there are currently 1,987 songs available from eight-hundred fourty-one different bands, which means that at least twelve additional tracks from 'The Jimi Hendrix Experience' will need to be included in the release to reach the 2000-song mark. Given that 'The Jimi Hendrix Experience' is a four-disc album with fifty-six songs to choose from, your guess about which songs will make the cut is as good as ours.
"Our commitment to weekly releases, disc export, forward compatibility of downloads and the launch of the Rock Band Network were milestones in the development of Rock Band's vibrant digital business," said Paul DeGooyer, senior vice president of electronic games, music and programming for MTV Networks. "Now, with the release of our 2,000th song, we are reaffirming our commitment to present new music every week - and with the new features in Rock Band 3, there will be more ways than ever to experience it."
Rock Band 3 is also hitting store shelves on October 26 in North America and October 29 everywhere else. Over 2000 songs (on-disc and downloadable) will be playable in Rock Band 3 at launch.
The special edition download of'The Jimi Hendrix Experience' will hit the Rock Band Store for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii on October 12. Pricing for the Hendrix DLC and the remaining songs have yet to be revealed.

2000 songs and no stairway to heaven.

Its because Led Zeppelin is notorious for greatly limiting how much much their music is used in various media. Thats why if you ever hear a Zep song in a movie or like "Rock and Roll" in that car commercial awhile back, its an incredibly short snippet. I bet they make tons of money for those snippets too. I doubt any Zep will ever officially get into Rock Band or GH.
