Minecraft Currently Free-to-Play, Fan-Made Trailer is Awesome [Updated]

[Update 6PM]: Due to load problems with the Minecraft servers, the game's developer is currently unable to process new account registrations or verify online players. For now, the game is completely free to play and can be downloaded from the official site.

If you're interested in what all the fuss is about, this is your chance to check it out for no cost. [Thanks, Haxim]

[Original Story] This fan-made trailer for the indie game Minecraft does a better job explaining the game than I ever could.

The lone developer behind the game recently added a second employee to his company and is accepting additional job applications. The game, still in development, has been purchased many times over and a good amount of Shacknews community members are enjoying the game.

I gave it a try and while it isn't something that appeals to me, I can see why so many are enthralled by its take on collaborative building.

I finally started playing this and spent at least 12 hours playing it this weekend. I love this game. So worth every bit of hype it's been getting.

It's currently free to try. What do you mean by how the MP 'works' though?

i mean like are you playing with people for a certain goal? or you by yourself to protect what you have built? that kinda stuff :/

No goals, just survival. Build to survive. Build to make yourself happy and satisfy the urge to create and explore. it's very open and aimless. I build my own fun and I find it delightful.

My 12 hours were exclusively in single player so I cannot help you. But, I already feel like I have more than justified the purchase. I've been thinking all day about which projects I want to do next and I'm TRYING to prioritize them. But I want to do it all.

Hopefully I can do MP if I get my cheapass friends to pick it up.
