iPhone Support Coming to Unreal Development Kit, 'Epic Citadel' Hits 1 Million Downloads
Developers using the free Unreal Development Kit "will soon be able to use the power of Unreal Engine 3 to create apps for iOS devices," Epic explained. The dev also revealed that Epic Citadel--available free on iTunes--has hit one million downloads.
As well as developers allowing to freely create and release non-profit games built upon the engine behind such games as Batman: Arkham Asylum and Gears of War 3, the UDK offers a decent path into commercial development. UDK commercial licenses begin at the trifling figure of $99, followed by a 25% royalty on all revenue over $5,000.
"We'll have more on UDK support for iOS devices coming soon," Epic promises. For now, you can acclimatise to the UDK by nabbing the August beta from FileShack.
