Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light Xbox 360 Timed-Exclusive for Summer of Arcade

Lara Croft's first downloadable adventure, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, will be available exclusive on the Xbox 360 for at least four weeks, Eurogamer has learned.

According to developer Crystal Dynamics, the timed-exclusivity is a requirement of titles included in Microsoft's Summer of Arcade promotion.

"Well, for exactly four weeks, really. The agreement with Microsoft is, in order to participate in their hugely successful Summer of Arcade promotion there is a window of exclusivity," Crystal Dynamics' Karl Stewart said. "That window of exclusivity is a set four weeks."

Exclusivity in the Summer of Arcade has appeared in the past, as Capcom's crossover fighter Marvel vs. Capcom 2 first released on the Xbox 360 on July 29; however, the PSN version was released less than three weeks later on August 13.

Stewart says Crystal Dynamics hopes to have a firm release date for Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light on the PlayStation 3 and PC within "seven to 10 days."

Lara Croft joins Limbo, Castlevania: Harmony of Despair and Monday Night Combat as this year's Summer of Arcade catalog. All titles are priced at 1200MS Points.

Shacknews has contacted Microsoft for information regarding the exclusivity agreement and when its timeline changed between Summer of Arcade in 2009 and 2010 but has yet to hear back at the time of publishing.
