Halo: Reach Beta Opening to XBL Silver Folk

2
The currently-underway multiplayer beta for Halo: Reach will be open and playable to all Xbox 360 owners with a copy of Halo 3: ODST and a free Xbox Live Silver account from 9:00 am PDT on May 14 to 9:00 am PDT on May 17, Microsoft has revealed.

In addition, the online multiplayer functionality of both Halo 3 and Halo 3: ODST will be available to those with the games and an Xbox Live Silver account during that time.

Traditionally, online multiplayer via Xbox Live is one of the perks of paying for or redeeming an Xbox Live Gold membership, with the Halo: Reach multiplayer beta open to all Gold members with a copy of Halo 3: ODST from May 3 until May 19, 2010.

I assume that this is more of a matchmaking beta than anything else. They're gathering a ton of data so they might be able to tweak some weapons right out of the gate, but I wouldn't expect much in the way of noticeable changes.

This is a stress test for the service. Typical with betas that are nearing their end.
