StarCraft 2 Facebook Integration Warps In

StarCraft II developer Blizzard has announced that its much-anticipated real-time strategy sequel will boast intergration with the social networking site Facebook.

What is described as "the first step in the integration" will allow players to quickly 'friend' their Facebook chums on the game's Battle.net matchmaking service. It's yet unclear what horrors might follow later--hopefully nothing like the scene envisioned below.

"We're pleased to be working with Facebook to integrate their platform with Battle.net to enhance the social-entertainment experience for our players," said Blizzard COO Paul Sams. "This new functionality will make it easier than ever to connect with friends on Battle.net and play StarCraft II and future Blizzard Entertainment games together."

Facebook functionality will be rolled out to the ongoing closed beta test "in the near future." StarCraft II is scheduled for a worldwide PC release on July 27, at long last.
