Class Action Lawsuit Against Sony Over PS3 Linux
"Sony's decision to force users to disable the Other OS function was based on its own interest and was made at the expense of its customers," reads the suit. Damages are sought for each member of the class action suit and while no specific number is given, documents cite an amount in excess of $5 million total.
The suit covers "a nationwide class of all persons who purchased a PS3 during the period November 17, 2006 and March 27, 2010 and who did not resell their PS3."
Earlier this month, a UK gamer was able to receive a partial refund from Amazon UK on his PlayStation 3 over the loss of OtherOS support under strict UK consumer laws.
