Splinter Cell: Conviction Hit by Freezing Bug [Update: Should Be Fixed]
[Original] Publisher Ubisoft is investigating an issue with the just-released Xbox 360 version of Splinter Cell: Conviction that sees the game lock up in single-player.
While Ubisoft has yet to sort out a long-term solution, Kotaku noticed that "Ubisoft Technical Support" has posted a short-term workaround in the game's forums:
"Try simply disconnecting from Xbox Live and see if you encounter the same problem," the company suggests, adding that if this doesn't work, one should try clearing the System Cache and then booting the game, presumably while not connected to Xbox Live:
Guys, I reported this information for you all. I was able to reproduce that same problem, and you most likely have noticed you should try clearing the system cache and going back through the level. We have reported this information for you, so in the mean time try deleting the cache (steps below) and retry the level. Sorry for the issue (for those running into it) and hold tight for further information.Steps to clear the system cache below.
- Load to the Xbox 360 dashboard
- Choose "System Settings"
- Choose "Memory"
- Highlight your hard drive
- Press "y" for device options
- from here just choose to clear system cache

It certainly isn't the most crippling bug Ubisoft has ever shipped in a game.
