Modern Warfare 2 DLC Priced and Detailed
The studio also revealed details on the five included multiplayer maps--three new, two returning from Call of Duty 4--best summarized by a now-removed Marketplace listing:
The Stimulus Package delivers 5 additional action-packed multiplayer maps featuring a variety of locations: "Bailout," a multi-level apartment complex; "Storm," an open industrial park littered with heavy machinery; "Salvage," a snowy junkyard fortified by stacked debris and crushed cars. Two legendary fan-favorites from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare return, including "Crash," a war-torn urban environment; and "Overgrown," which features a massive dry creek bed.
"They're slightly reworked, but we didn't make any major [geometry] changes," Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling said of the two returning maps. "These are maps that we love, and we didn't want to go messing with that formula...we just upped the graphics a bit and added in all the new stuff we added in for Modern Warfare 2 as a whole."
"I've been waiting over two years to play Capture the Flag on Crash," he added.
The price point marks a significant increase over the map packs for earlier entries Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: World at War, which delivered three to four new multiplayer maps to players in exchange for 800 Microsoft Points / $10.
Exactly when the new Modern Warfare 2 maps will be released on PC and PlayStation 3 has yet to be revealed, though the PS3 release is likely to share the $15 price point.
