An as-yet-untitled sequel to 5TH Cell's quirky Nintendo DS puzzler Scribblenauts is to be released in fall 2010, publisher Warner Bros Interactive confirmed this morning.
As with the original, the sequel is coming to Nintendo DS and is being developed by 5TH Cell. But whereas the original had players typing in nouns to summon objects, the sequel allows them to modify summoned objects through the use of ...adjectives.
"Adjectives can change the colour, size, elements, behaviours and many other aspects of the object they are describing," explained Warner Bros. "Multiple adjectives can be combined together to produce incredibly creative objects, allowing the player's imagination to run wild for a truly unique and individualistic experience."
Translation? Robot dinosaurs, shotgun-wielding skateboarding Santa, Kraken, keyboard cat and other favorites from the first game just got a lot more interesting.

Not present in this press release but confirmed by Nintendo Power is that they fixed the control scheme - movement on the d-pad confirmed. Also issues with camera were fixed. It also sounds like they are going to try to prevent "cheap" solutions (eg "wings") in the game in some manner - how, I don't know.

I thought the controls and such were fine. The camera would snap back to the player too soon sometimes but that's about it. It didn't concern me that much that I couldn't use the d-pad to move my dude. Sometimes it would move me when I didn't want to and I would die, but who cares. The levels are like a minute long generally and it usually wasn't too hard to recreate the situation you had up to that point. Basic gist? Brilliant game and can't wait for the next thing.
