RUSE PC Beta Open to All on March 9

A public PC beta of Eugen's "one of a kind" strategy game R.U.S.E. will be available to all next Tuesday--March 9, 2010--through Valve's digital distribution platform Steam.

"Everyone is invited to play," publisher Ubisoft explained via its amusingly named UbiLeak Twitter. "All you need is a Steam account."

Word of the open beta was accompanied by a new trailer that examines the changes made since the last multiplayer beta. As for the final retail version of R.U.S.E.--headed to PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360--it's now slated to arrive circa June 3, 2010.

Think the beta itself will have Ubi's Nazi-inspired DRM?

  That sucks, because I love RTS games and they're the only thing I use my PC for gaming wise anymore. I refuse to buy the game if I like it now because of that bullshit DRM they have. I'll try the beta just for fun though.

    Sounds like you're missing out on a lot of games if you ONLY use your PC for RTS games. FPS titles are best on PC along with MMOs and TBS games like Civ 4. I can see only using your console for one or two genres (platform or fighting games) but not a PC. How weird.

  This game lost all my interest when the Nazi-inspired DRM was unveiled. Free MP Beta or not... It's all a pass from me. Maybe I'll buy a used copy for PS3 someday?

  Might not be if they're using Steam only for the Beta, which would indicate Steamworks, wouldn't it? If so, perhaps Eugen persuaded them not to use any other DRM.

  As Faylor implies, it doesn't really make much difference, does it? You're already in trouble in a multiplayer game if your internet connection goes away.

  I love how the DRM Nazi talk is coming up...since it's Ubisoft French studio's putting it out...hmmmmmm
  
  But a DRM on a beta? Waste of time in my opinion, I'm going with BornAcorn on this one. If a DRM is gonna exsist on a beta, they better announce it before it goes public.
  
  And I loved the closed beta. I like it better than SC2 right now.
