Wii 'Classic Controller Pro' Coming to North America, Getting Monster Hunter Tri Bundle

15

The redesigned Wii "Classic Controller Pro" unveiled last February will be available in North America in April 2010, Nintendo of America and Capcom announced this morning.

The controller, which sports a second row of shoulder buttons and longer grips over the standard Classic Controller that launched alongside the Wii, will be available in black and white models at $19.99.

In addition, the two confirmed that April will see Capcom's Wii Japanese record-breaker Monster Hunter Tri arrive in North America, with the game bring sold in two flavors--individually at $49.99, and bundled with a black Classic Controller Pro at $59.99.

More important than the grips/buttons - the wire comes out the back, away from the player, instead of the front, towards the player (like the current stupidly designed Classic Controller)

I guess they didn't learn from the Dreamcast!!! I remember having that same complaint with the Dreamcast's controller. It makes me ask the question why would experienced game companies like Nintendo and Sega ever come up with such a stupid design flaw as wire on the bottom of the controller!

I thought it was because the classic controller plugs into a wiimote. And the wiimote is likely sitting in your lap i.e. below your hands instead of in front of you like a console would be.

It didn't help that the cable on the Dreamcast controller is like 2 feet long either! That used to piss me off. But the DC controller also had a little notch which let you clip the cord back so it stayed facing out the back... which wasn't really so bad. I bet it had something to do with the slots for the VMU's.. they probably made it very difficult to have the cord come out the back? I guess..

Ehhh I never found the clip to be that useful, I tried to use it once but it just didn't do it for me. I think they could have just put the VMU's on the bottom instead of the top and everything would have been the way it was suppose to, I'm guessing some engineer screwed up and the higher ups that don't play games didn't think anything of it.

Since the Wiimote it plugs into usually ends up in your lap, the bottom-facing wire wasn't as bad as it looked.

The worst thing about the original classic controller was the shape of it, like a bar of soap with nothing to grip hold of. Hand cramp city if you played anything for long with it.

Oh that was the whole "classic" SNES style that it had going on for it. Man I use to love the SNES controller. For the modern day molded to your hand shape It's comfortable but I always felt it makes my hand a little bit sweaty, but that might just be me... Needs more breathing room in my opinion =P
