Netflix Streaming Coming to Wii in Spring

Netflix's online streaming library of movies and television shows will arrive on Wii this spring for subscribers in the US, the DVD rental service and Nintendo jointly announced today.

As with the PlayStation 3 Netflix support, a free "Netflix instant-streaming disc" will be required, which can be reserved in advance now.

Nintendo explains, "These titles will be conveniently organized into a variety of categories based on members' personal preferences and will include popular genres, new arrivals and members'individual instant Queues... They will also have the ability to read synopses and rate movies, and will have the option of fast-forwarding and rewinding their selection."

Only the Xbox 360 has Netflix streaming software integrated into the system due to an exclusivity agreement, according to industry analyst Michael Pachter. The PS3's Netflix is due to be intergrated into the dashboard "late" this year, presumably when the agreement expires, though Nintendo has yet to announce any such plans for the Wii.
