Age of Conan Offering 'Unlimited Free Trial' Through Year's End

Temporarily expanding the previous seven-day free trial, developer Funcom is offering an "unlimited free trial" for its PC MMO Age of Conan, which the company is now billing as "the most savage, sexy and brutal MMO ever created."

Anyone who downloads, registers, and starts playing the trial before January 1st 2010 will be able to enjoy all of level one to twenty...without ever having to upgrade to a full account or pay a subscription fee," explained the company. Trading, public chat, in-game mail and forum posting are restricted due to spam and gold farmer fears.

The promotion is being billed as "a unique holiday offer." Mythic's competing PC MMO Warhammer Online recently unveiled a similar promotion, offering an "endless" free trial with a level cap of ten, though Mythic has yet to specify an end date.

I'm also curious if the game is better, b/c when it shipped it was very broken.

the game runs great now and hardly ever crashes. Everything that was wrong when the game came out has been fixed. Content is stell meh but you dont get to experience it all with this trial anyway:-p

Like others have said: levels 1-20 are one of the ultimate experiences in MMO gaming history. After that, the game goes "Bleh".

Or at least it did back when I quit about a month after release.

Which would really explain this move a bit.
