Providing a brief respite from the flood of Spike Video Game Award-related stories, a new trailer for Mass Effect 2 has arrived from EA.

This particular media blast details Sentinel the class, described as "the jack of all trades," with lead gameplay designer Christina Norman narrating the minute and a half-long clip.

Developer BioWare's latest sci-fi action-RPG hits PC and Xbox 360 on January 26.

Chris Faylor was previously a games journalist creating content at Shacknews.

Looks rad, but you have to ask the question... then why play any other class?

I am so happy this coming to the PC, ME rulez.

It has versatility but lacks focus. It's not the best soldier, the best techie, or the best biotic user. Probably also can't use many weapon types.

Ya , I figure there must be a catch, it can't be perfect.

I just think the dude (aka the class designer who did the vid) was just really into the class and it is maybe his favorite so he made it sound godly, or simpler yet they just want the fans to go "damn thats a rad class".

I am looking forward to play them all.

It's a good class for a first play through for people who never played the first one. That way, you get to sample both worlds, the soldiers and the biotics, and then figure out which one you like best.

I'm sure that while they were making the classes they didn't just say screw it lets just make one that can do everything. They will probably have access to a limited number of weapon types, biotics, and tech abilities.

In the first one, the "pure" classes had some unique abilities that the hybrid types couldn't get, like Singularity.

It looks like they have tweaked this arrangement, and I hope they've got a lot more special abilities for the specialized classes instead of just one power. Singularity was cool, but it didn't quite make up for being stuck with pistols.
