replyWhy do we need famous live-action actors to voice characters in animated productions? They hire all of these people who are talented in their field, but this really isn't their field. It seems like a waste of money to me.

True, but it's a different skill. Related, but different. Not all actors can do voice acting and pull it off because they act with their bodies and not their voice.

But seemingly not these actors, if the trailer is anything to go on. Their performances appear very convincing and appropriate to me, and look to lend a power and gravity to the game that you wouldn't normally find.
Whether you could achieve the same with only VO actors is another matter (i.e. yes, you could), but I think these guys are doing just fine. Fantastic even when compared to some other game voice talent...

See, that's the problem. You can't compare shitty old games with shitty writing, crappy direction and zero voice over budgets to this stuff. There is a middle ground where you can have really good "no name" actors doing a decent job when given a good script and good direction.

Yeah, but would she have bought the game in the store because of that? Not to mention the fact that it's rarely even mentioned on the actual game box.

Because their noticable and unique. There are thousands of singers around, but how many of them actually become famous and are entertaining? how many people go on shows like idol but end up nowhere? sure they can sing well but they dont have "it". These c list celebs from various scifi shows and tv are very noticable and add alot of flavour to the game.
