Planet M.U.L.E. Resurrects Classic Game as Free Download with Online Play
Set on the alien planet of Irata, up to 4 players compete for economic superiority by building factories and producing and selling goods. A M.U.L.E. (Multiple Use Labor Element) is the type of in-game unit that is configured to harvest different planetary resources. Planet M.U.L.E. is a remake and tribute to the original M.U.L.E., which was developed more than 26 years ago by Dan Bunten and Ozark Softscape.
Would-be resource-harvesting entrepreneurs can download the free client from FileShack, and then register a free account on the Planet M.U.L.E. website.

it certainly is faithful to the original, almost to a fault I would say. There could have been some minor interface improvements that would have greatly helped things.
That being said, if you liked the original, you'll like this.-
Here are the differences between this version and the original:
* Assaying now costs $50.
o This used to be free, and considering it costs time to do AND everyone sees the results... should still be free.
* The bots go Wumpus-hunting!
* Only two modes: Tournament and Training
o Previously had Beginner, Normal and Tournament.
* Pirates now steal Crystite AND Smithore!
o Pirates used to only still Crystite in Tournament mode.
o Pirates would still Smithore in Normal.
o No Pirates in beginner mode.
* You can now chose your game length in rounds: 6, 9 or 12
o Previously 6 rounds was only the beginner game, all other games were 12 rounds.
* Energy spoilage is now 1-for-3, as opposed to the old 1-for-4.
o Food spoilage is still 1-for-2.
* You can mine the river valley.
o Previously the game had a river (not just a river bed) and you could not mine river spaces.
* 4 High Crysite spots (used to be 3), not including any meteor strikes.
* Store has a North and South exit.
* Currently you can leave the store with a mule without outfitting it (saving you $25 if you plan on running mules).
* When selling to the store, the store will purchase from everyone at once (Vs the old having to wait for each in turn).
