Left 4 Dead 2 Australian 'Ban' Appeal Fails
Valve and publisher EA appealed last month after the OFLC denied Left 4 Dead 2 the country's highest rating of MA 15+ due to its "frequent and intense depictions of violence" and "graphic depictions of blood and gore," barring it from sale, rental or demonstration.
"It was the Review Board's opinion that there was insufficient delineation between the depiction of general zombie figures and the human figures, as opposed to the clearly fictional 'infected' characters," a press statement explains. "This was a major consideration of the Review Board in determining the impact of this game on minors."
An Aussie-friendly version of Left 4 Dead 2 will instead be sold Down Under, granted an MA 15+ classification by the OFLC as it "no longer contains depictions of decapitations, dismemberment, wound detail, or piles of bodies lying about the environment."
Left 4 Dead 2 is scheduled for a November 17 release on PC and Xbox 360. A demo will arrive on November 3, while those who pre-order gain early access from October 27.
