Weekly PC Sales: Aion Cannons Fire

8
NCsoft's fantasy MMO Aion once again dominated the digital PC sales arena last week. The title took the top two slots on both the Steam and Direct2Drive charts with its collector's edition and standard download, respectively. The plucky post-apocalyptic MMO Fallen Earth also seems to be doing well, capturing the third slot on both lists. Beyond the massively multiplayer stuff, Direct2Drive's five dollar sales are clearly pushing numbers, and Steam is still selling Counter-Strike.

Steam Top Ten (9/20 - 9/26):

  1. Aion Collector's Edition
  2. Aion
  3. Fallen Earth
  4. Batman: Arkham Asylum
  5. F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin
  6. Left 4 Dead
  7. Resident Evil 5
  8. Counter-Strike
  9. Star Wars Jedi Knight Collection
  10. Red Faction: Guerrilla
Direct2Drive Top Ten (9/20 - 9/26):
  1. Aion Collector's Edition
  2. Aion
  3. Fallen Earth
  4. Neverwinter Nights 2
  5. Assassin's Creed Director's Cut
  6. Titan Quest Bundle

@Fallen Earth-- Pretty surprising, I wonder if those are people just trying a new game out randomly or if they actually know what's up. Last time I played beta it was a venerable pile of shite.

The PC sales on the third spot are probably pretty low.

I'd be surprised if it was over 50k.

They have really cleaned the game up. I was pretty meh on the beta and a buddy talked me into grabbing the full game. I'm having a blast with it now, only level 10...so who knows if it falls on its face after that.

Same, I was not impressed in the least with my late stage beta access. The whole FPS part felt really clunky and stilted, I don't see how they could have fixed that in the few weeks before gold.

Ya, I played through the first few levels on a friend's account...I wasn't impressed even slightly. It felt like the game was made years ago. Controls were sluggish, graphics looked distinctly mediocre/bad, UI was fairly terrible, gameplay didn't grab my attention, etc.
