Wolfenstein Multiplayer Team Axed Following Release

38
A number of employees at Wolfenstein multiplayer developer Endrant Studios have been fired on the day of the game's release, according to GamesIndustry.biz.

Endrant has confirmed the news, though a spokesperson did not comment on the number of cuts made. The studio employed 17 people as of yesterday. "We have recently completed a development cycle and have regrettably been forced to make adjustments to staff and headcounts," said the spokesperson. "Those affected are valued members of our team who have worked incredibly hard on our latest title. We hope that they land on their feet quickly."

The UK-based Endrant was responsible for the multiplayer component of Wolfenstein, while Raven tackled the singleplayer campaign. Details on the multiplayer portion were first revealed just weeks ago.

I know that was a joke, but really, the MP is BAD. Very bad. It's like ETQW mixed with CoD4. It's nothing like RtCW/ET...how on earth did they mess this up when RtCW/ET are practically the biggest MP games that have ever existed.

nerve was working on the multiplayer for this game initially, weren't they? wonder what happened that made them (whoever, activision probably) switch out the teams. nerve did the original rtcw multiplayer. which was also a ton of fun

While RtCW/ET was a good game, it was nowhere near the biggest MP game to have ever existed. Not even close.

Quite, but RtCW was huge back in 2002, and ET was massive for a few years. It's a huge shame. :(

I would guess it's just an unfortunate coincidence.
