Those tireless men and women of the United States Colonial Marines are the subject of a new Aliens vs. Predator trailer, caught in a rumble between the two alien assailants.

Aliens vs. Predator is due to arrive in early 2010 on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Check out our interview with developer Rebellion's AvP project lead and producer from E3, covering the terror of fighting in the USCM, unpredictable enemy AI and multiplayer.

Looks good, but AVP 2's marine campaign is hard to beat for intensity and fright. Dead Space has beaten it recently, but its a completely different type of game. The marine campaign in the original AVP wasn't that great, sure it was intense, but the level design and fun factor drained through the length of it, and it was worse if you wanted to get it over with and try the other 2 campaigns out had you not played them yet.

  I disagree regarding Dead Space. I haven't played anything that beats the AvP games for intensity and fright, and very few that even compete.

    I guess you're right because you're on the frontpage, but I still think AvP 2 is better than the first. I would have rather seen their Battlefront game than this from them again. Monolith may have gone the same way as Raven, but their AvP 2 was better.

      I'm with you on AvP2's marine campaign being more fun than 1's. It wasn't quite as ass-clenchingly intense, but I felt it was better constructed as a whole.

      I'm not saying AvP was better than AvP2. I'm saying that they're both scarier than anything else I've played, and few games even compete.

        AvP 1 on a whole was much better than AvP2 and their inclusion of a ton of stupid alien types.

  My biggest gripe with AvP 2 was that the engine made me motion-sick and you couldn't break even so much as a tiny light or anything else in the environment (something you COULD do in AvP). For some reason the 1st AvP just felt more frightening - in that regard, I agree whole-heartedly with Arcanum.
  
  However, I'd say that Left 4 Dead is equally frightening (at times) for me.

  i felt doom 3 was pretty intense and frightful, at least the most intense and frightful i've played.
