Battlefield 1943's 'Coral Sea' Map Unlocked for Xbox 360

26
The air-centric map "Coral Sea" has been unlocked for play in the Xbox 360 version of Battlefield 1943 after the game's running kill-count surpassed 43 million today.

Developer DICE's "Coral Sea Challenge" promised the map to each platform's community after reaching the milestone, which was achieved six days after the game's rocky release.

The PlayStation 3 count stands at 22 million, indicating PS3 owners are still in for a bit of a wait.

I'd hope so. You used o be able to. Then again, you also had subs as well which are gone (Guadalcanal also had ships). :( And since you can't move the ships anymore it seems doubtful.

You could never move the carriers on Coral Sea, it was always about just bombing them with the unlimited plane respawns.

Are the carriers anything but non-mobile spawn locations in BF1943? I used to love driving the carrier around to the NE end of the airfield, and dropping some cannon shells onto the enemy airfield, while my team-mates had a nice close spawn point for attacking said airfield.

no. this is the gayest map of the lot imo... not sure why even include it, it might as well be plane fights with no map attached at all. I know I'm hard to please because I like the original but I was hoping for a bit more than this.

true, I just found the limitations here a bit ridiculous though. you can't even use the land to snipe or something, it kills you if you try. not very BF like to have only one way to play a level.
