Telltale Talks Possible Day of the Tentacle Revival

With LucasArts recently noting a desire to revisit more of its classic franchises, Telltale Games--the studio behind the recent revivals of LucasArts' beloved Sam & Max and Monkey Island franchises--has chimed in with talk of revisiting Day of the Tentacle.

"Feasible is a good word," Telltale CEO Dan Connors told VideoGamer on the chances of a new Day of the Tentacle entry. "I always think of Sam & Max, Day of the Tentacle and Monkey Island as the big three [LucasArts] franchises...I really love Day of the Tentacle."

"My ideas always get shot down, but I wanted to see, like a 32-year-old Hoagie, or Bernard, Hoagie and Laverne all grown up with jobs and what not, " he said of a potential setting for a Day of the Tentacle follow-up. "But we'll see if that gets any traction."

However, Connors warned that "we're certainly not there yet on it," and reiterated LucasArts' recent message that such revivals all hinge on the performance of the impending The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition (PC, XBLA) re-release and Telltale's five-part Tales of Monkey Island continuation, coming to WiiWare and PC.

"It all depends on how it goes," the CEO noted. "Hopefully it works out for both companies and it just is a no brainer to keep adding the franchises on."

i think full throttle was my least favourite lucasarts adventure game. too short and not very memorable. i'd prefer to see monkey island 2 or loom next

I really want Full Throttle and Grim Fandango to stay as stand alone stories with no sequels. I have no problem with sequels to their other games though, I think a sequel to Maniac Mansion/Tentacle would work well.

I'm treating Brutal Legend as FT 1.5. Not quite a sequel , but certainly inspired by it.
