Wolfenstein dutifully follows the rule that hospitals in supernatural-tinged video games must hold creepy medical experiments, the torturous trials here producing magic Nazis.

We have an inkling that we might also discover a wheelchair which mysterious rolls by itself, the distant sound of crying children, and a murderous surgeon when Raven's Wolfenstein arrives August 4 on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, published by Activision.

i've played this game about a million fucking times. what's the point?

unless the MP is a carbon copy of Wolf:ET with updated graphics and new maps, this produces zero interest.

Wait, you've played it already? When did you get a chance to? What's it like? Is it more Call of Duty-ish or more Doom-ish?

Please, fill us in on your experience playing this unfinished game that ships a month and a half from now.

I won't make any grand proclamations about the game, but I'll agree that nothing we've seen so far grabs me as something that is original in any interesting way. Either in the theme or in the gameplay.

I've always thought that Raven's FPS games were good solid fun, but usually there's at least some bit of them that stands out and catches your attention. This one... so far, not so much.

Yeah, I agree. I was excited when I first heard they were doing another Wolfenstein but everything I've seen to date seems pretty bland. I hope I'm wrong.

Look, if you don't like shooting nazis you're a bad person. OK?

Doom 3, Quake IV, now this. That'll pretty much complete the iD trifecta for lackluster updates to classic franchises. I think this game is going to get steamrolled and forgotten by other shooters already on the market or the cresting wave in October/November.
