Burnout Devs Creating 'Revolutionary' Need for Speed

18
Criterion Games, best known for developing the Burnout franchise of racing titles, is now taking a crack at the venerable Need for Speed series.

"We don't have a plan right now for a separate major launch on Burnout, because the team doing it is working on a revolutionary take on Need for Speed," said EA CEO John Riccitiello to Kotaku.

Nervous Burnout fans should take note that while it may be a long wait for another Burnout title, the franchise is apparently not being melded with Need for Speed.

When asked whether the "revolutionary" take was some kind of combination of the two racers, Riccitiello replied: "I don't think you can fold Burnout into Need for Speed, because a lot of people like Burnout."

No other details on the title have been released.

Worst franchise? Kid, Need for Speed was the king of arcade racers back in its hey-day.

The original Need for Speed set the stone for what future arcade racers would be.

lol that was like 10+ years ago, might as well be a billion years ago

reason it went bad cus it got too commercial, and if they keep it up wit the annual release it's not gonna change.

if you mean going completly street ricer er racer as commercial then yes it went bad to people who don't like street customs. But need for speed is a staple in the arcade racing industry. not because of 10 years ago either.

WTF does the subject have to do with the quality?

A NFS a year is too many too fast. Nobody wants that rushed shit.

What the hell does it being over 10 years old have anything to do with it being the king of arcade racers?

Yes, Burnout Paradise was complete failure. Criterion must be losing sleep over that release. [/sarcasm]
