'A Song of Ice and Fire' Books Becoming Games
The series beloved by fantasy fans the world over tells of political intrigue and civil war in a fantasy world refreshingly light on orcs and goblins. "The twists and turns of the plot will allow us to deliver an experience which can be enjoyed by both long-time fans as well as gamers new to the series" explains managing director Patrick Pligersdorfer.
Cyanide is playing its cards close to its chest, revealing only that the deal covers "games for next-generation consoles and PC" and that development has begun--specifics of how the games relate to the novels, let alone a release date, are unknown.
"We are all huge fans of 'A Song of Ice and Fire'" said Pligersdorfer, no doubt hoping to defuse the nigh-on inevitable fan outrage "so it is a true honour for our teams to be entrusted with creating the first video games inspired by this masterpiece."

So does "next-generation" mean Xbox 720 and PS4 by now, I hope?
