Independent developer Introversion today announced that it has "regained all rights" to the completed Nintendo DS version of its thermonuclear war game DEFCON.

The company is now seeking a publishing partner "for world domination...or a nice game of chess," and expects the portable rendition to launch worldwide in Q3 2009. The fast-paced neon-colored Wargames-inspired title originally hit the PC in early 2007.

"We believe that there will be particular interest in a finished DS product with such a great track record," said Introversion director Mark Morris. The Nintendo DS version was developed alongside Pinnacle, described by Introversion as a "troubled distributor."

Helping Introversion in the publisher search is consulting firm Bad Management.
