Left 4 Dead Survival Pack Release Dated
The free Survival Pack adds the new Survival game mode, where players are given time to dig in before fending off unceasing zombie hordes in an attempt to survive as long as possible. Survival Mode is played on 12 new maps--11 being sections of existing levels and 1 created especially for Survival Mode, Lighthouse.
The Survival Pack also brings Versus mode to the final two co-op campaigns, Dead Air and Death Toll. This release coincides with the release of Left 4 Dead: Critics Choice Edition, which contains the original game plus the Survival Pack.
Valve has been contacted for confirmation of the PC release date.

So disappointed with this. I guess it is my fault for assuming Valve's first priority when releasing DLC for Left4Dead would be more campaigns, given there were only 4 in the retail release. I hope we do see new campaigns eventually, as that is what will really extend this game's lifespan for me. Even with only 4 campaigns the game has lasted a long time, even just 1 would extend that even further.

Given how the campaigns have been created, I can definitely see why it would take a significantly longer time to create a new campaign.
Each campaign takes place in an entirely distinct environment with very little in the way of shared assets. The amount of custom textures and models in each area is fairly significant, and given Valve's modus operandi of playtesting each area to death in an "orange box" state before even starting to make it look good, you can see why it would take a significant amount of time to create a 4-5 map campaign.-

there was no miscommunication on how many campaigns were playable at launch(and you bought it understanding that only 2 campaigns were playable on VS), it was publicly understood that the other 2 campaigns would be made available and they would be free. they are now coming out, and they are free.
am i missing something?-

This is a multiplayer only game that people bought with the expectation that there would be added content.
this is not a multiplayer only game, maybe that's what you purchased it for but that's not what it is. I understand that you wanted the other VS maps on launch day but you don't buy what you want, you buy what they release. You paid for what they were releasing, and they were kind enough to tell you up front that you would get the other 10 maps (not 2 maps, 10) when they were ready. They have no faltered on any of these expectations. Your sense of entitlement to something that was not part of the original purchase is laughable at best.

Don't you mean TEN versus maps? It bothers the shit out of me when people bitch about the "two vs maps" without realizing they are confusing a CAMPAIGN with a MAP (with a 5:1 ratio for maps to campaigns, you're so far off it's stupid).
And yes, since it's free you can't complain. You took a chance that content would be released within your preferred time frame, and now chance isn't working out the way you wanted. Welcome to reality. Quit bitching about how it isn't worth its price point as-is, because you paid it.

In an alternate time-line, Valve post-pones release of the game to ensure inclusion of all 4 co-op maps as Versus mode maps.
End result? manlyman complains that the delay is "really bullshit" and we have nothing to play at all yet.
I prefer this time-line: Release a fairly polished experience for me to enjoy. Meanwhile, work on more content and release it to me FREE OF CHARGE.
Always something to complain about (I should know!). Let's look at the bigger picture, shall we?
